The European Commission is the executive branch of the European Union. It drafts EU law, manages the common budget and runs the programmes that move money into research, startups, cities and the Union neighbourhood.

Why it matters for your money

Almost every euro of EU funding starts here. The Commission designs the instruments, sets the rules, and delegates delivery to specialised bodies and agencies. Follow the Commission and you can see the money before it moves.

It works alongside the European Investment Bank, national governments and EU agencies to turn political priorities into grants, guarantees and equity.
